The Year of Less
How I am cleaning up my life and process to make myself more efficient. And more importantly, more available to myself and my family.

The Year of Less
Going into each new year I try to take with me a theme. Not so much a list of resolutions, I’ve too often found that holding myself to rigid goals didn’t motivate me like I expected and only lead to extra pressure to be the person I wished I was on January 1st. By theming my year, I can be more flexible with my goals and more honest with myself. It’s a win/win.
What Does Year of Less Mean?
I’ve spent the better part of the last decade always getting new things. New gadgets, new toys, new furniture. I’ve been able to cook amazing foods with all of the new kitchen tools I’ve collected. What else do I have a lot more of than I did ten years ago? Weight. I’ve put on a ton of weight.
So the year of less is two-fold. Clear out my clutter so I only keep what I am using, and clean up my health and fitness habits to lose weight and get healthier. I am focusing on consistency over motivation and making sure I do a little bit each day. A couple minutes of working out is better than none, and it’s easier to fit into my schedule than an hour long workout. I can also take a couple items a week and decide if I want to keep, donate, give, sell, or toss them. That way I don’t have one daunting task that I keep dreading and putting off.
What is the theme of your year?
Let’s Get It.
